More often than not, it is a requirement under the Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement that tenants are required to have all carpets professionally cleaned upon vacation of the property. Even, if they were not cleaned when you moved in. It is always essential that you check your agreement prior to moving out.
Although the law has changed with how deposits are held, it can still be a long winded wait getting your deposit back if you haven't had the carpets and property professionally cleaned.
